Can an LED frame be hung outdoors?
The short answer: no. The LEDMESEE illuminated frame is designed for indoor use, but passers-by will still see your advertising if you place it behind the shop window.
The short answer: indoors only
We design LEDMESEE frames for enclosed, dry indoor spaces. Do not mount them on a building façade, at an open-air entrance, in a beer garden or on an open terrace, even if the spot seems sheltered by a canopy. This applies to all models: single-sided, double-sided, horizontal and the power bank version.
That does not mean your advertising cannot work towards the street. Simply move the frame from the outside of the glass to the inside.
Why the frame should not be used outdoors
What makes everyday use easy indoors becomes a weak point outdoors. You change the poster without tools through a slot in the frame, and that slot is not sealed.
- Dust and dirt settle under the glass and on the print. When the frame is lit, every mark is clearly visible.
- Moisture from rain, snow and fog can get inside through the slot and ruin the backlit print.
- The power supply is not designed for outdoor use, changing temperatures or contact with water.
- A dirty poster loses what matters most in illuminated advertising: clean, vivid colours.
What to do instead: advertising behind the glass
A shop window is the natural place for a backlit poster. The glass protects the frame from the weather, and even LED light keeps the graphic readable from the pavement after dark. Choose one of the solutions and follow one simple rule: the frame always stays in an enclosed, dry space.
- A single-sided frame right behind the glass, with the graphic facing the street, e.g. A1 (594 × 841 mm) or A0 (841 × 1189 mm).
- A double-sided frame suspended on cables in the window: one poster for passers-by, the other for customers inside. A2, A1 and A0 formats.
- An entrance lobby or porch only if it is enclosed and dry, with no rain or snow blowing in from the street.
- Narrow 300 × 1200 mm or 600 × 1600 mm formats by the entrance door, on the inside of the glazing.
How to care for an indoor frame
The frame needs no servicing, but a few simple habits will help keep it in good condition.
- Always disconnect the power before cleaning.
- Wipe the glass with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the frame.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring sponges.
- Only slide in a clean, dry print, holding it by the edges.
- Do not hang the frame in a stream of steam, e.g. above a coffee machine or by the kitchen exit.
We are working on a cover for outdoor use
We know that many venue owners would like to hang an illuminated poster right by the entrance. That is why we are working on a special cover that will protect the frame from rain, snow, dust and dirt.
Want to be the first to hear about it? Email office@ledmesee.com or use the contact form with the note “outdoor cover”. We will let you know when the solution is available.
How to order — step by step
You do not need to know about advertising or printing. You just need to know where the frame will hang and what you want to show on it.
- Measure the space and choose the artwork format — you will find tips above.
- Choose a model: single-sided for the wall, double-sided for the window, horizontal above the counter or with a power bank for the table.
- Prepare your artwork or describe what you want to show — we will help you choose the right backlit print.
- Order a frame and print at shop.ledmesee.com or send a photo of the space via the contact form.
- Hang or stand the frame, connect the power and slide in the poster. You change the next graphic in seconds.
